In order to maintain sobriety, people who have been struggling with drugs and substance use dependency are assisted through alternative set of recovery support progrincluding an out-patient after care program or through a residential treatment support program which empowers recovering drug users with skills to handle the challenges they would face as they go back to the community upon completion of drug treatment/rehabilitation program..
At the Reachout Half-way House Centre which is a 2 months program for reintegrating recovering drug users back to the community, a recovering drug user is enrolled into the halfway house after completing the 4 months rehab program. The recovery support reintegration program builds among other things, the needed support system of the recovering drug user by also bringing on board the family through family therapy sessions
The program therefore comprises of the following:
- Stress and anger management
- Relapse, support systems
- Existing triggers and risks
- Psycho-educational classes
- Life skills training
- Spiritual education
- Family intervention and participation.
- Entrepreneurship skills
Family intervention and participation is conducted on a monthly basis to provide support to families through family therapy session, to offer an avenue for families to share and receive support from other families who are going through the same experience and how they can support clients in the recovery process. The Halfway House program has reduced incidences of relapse by also providing the recovery drug users with skills, support system and referral to Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) support groups.
